Is it all right to say and/or do bad things if there is no one around to see or hear you?
This can be a tough one. Even as adults we sometimes struggle with this one.
This is just a hint of some of things people think and/or say...but what about in private?
What are some things you say, do and think about?
Do you play video games that swear, but thinks its ok because you turn the volume down? Music...is it filthy and sin filled?
Or maybe you have posters of an idol all over your walls and lust for that individual?
Don't allow yourself to be brainwashed by this worlds ways. Some may say, "I was raised this way, it's all I know. I don't know how to do it any other way!"
Making excuses for our own behavior is weakness and cowardly! Is change hard? Absolutely! And it will take time change. But it's ultimately a choice!!
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (Ephesians 4:29 KJV)
Many times we forget that we are NEVER alone (for us believers anyway).
Do you swear, lie and say bad things about others?
Our truest test of character comes whenever we think no one else is watching or listening.
For many years I struggled with swearing, my husband can attest to this. And we began to notice that when I was around certain individuals, the swearing was more evident. We are influenced by those we spend most of our time with.
But! I discovered I was wrong! And because I had a spiritual experience that changed the direction of my life, nothing has been the same since! I don't miss the "old" me! And I find myself excited about all the changes because I see and feel God's Blessings in my life.
While I was in Lesson 9 of my Discipleship Book this morning I came across a verse that made me think...and during this morning devotion, that verse came to mind yet again:
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. (Hebrews 4:12, 13 KJV)
Another verse that is ALWAYS a great reminder, is found in Philippians:
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8 KJV)
There are several scriptures in God's Word that share with us about what we put into our minds, hearts and bodies.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23 KJV)
Meaning whatever captures mans mind, captures the man.
Where do you allow your mind to wander? Do you practice self control?
Jesus tells us in Luke:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Luke 12:34 KJV)
The more I think on this devotion, the more scripture and thoughts He lays on my heart.
I am so grateful that Our Lord has convicted each one of us in a couple areas in our lives and for our response, it truly brings growth and Joy unto Him, who longs for us to be pure in heart.

We hear comments all day long from people just passing by: oh look at her! That girl is just nasty! Or, dang! That guy needs a diet & a makeover! I can't believe she of all people has more than me! He don't deserve any of that!
